Tessellations

The 5th grade will be exploring tessellations in math soon so we got a head start in art class. Each student got a rhombus made up of two triangles. Then they folded the rhombus and drew half of a creature face on each edge. Then flip it over and trace the other half on the other side. 12 copies are made then constructed together to made the shape above. Each face has to match up. After gluing down the pieced the students colored with markers making sure all the similar faces are the same color. To see more tessellations check out the work of M.C. Escher.
