Coil Pots

Glazy Days worked with 4th grade class on coil pot creatures. Here they are ready to be cooked and then after vacation they will be painted.

Sandwiches!

K2 made collage sandwiches, yum.

Each students followed along with me in layering our sandwiches with various fixins.
Once they got halfway they had the opportunity to be creative and make it their own using the scrap paper available. Lots of colors, textures and shapes.

Alexander Calder

The 6th grade class had a quick lesson on the artist Alexander Calder and checked out some of his famous sculptures. They are basically large format kinetic mobiles. Next we used wire and tissue paper to make our own version of mobiles. The students had to shape and form each wire arm and choose a color theme. They look just amazing all grouped together hanging in the art room.

Pattern socks

I gave this project to the 1st grade class thinking it would take them two class periods to finish. Boy was I wrong. All they got was the outline of the shoe. Then they where to design a shoe they would like to have then draw the leg coming out of the show. Next they were asked to make striped patterns on a very long sock using colored pencils and markers. All in just one class.

Art Fair 2013

Thanks to all the parents that came out to the Art Fair. The students really worked hard all this great artwork. I also want to thank Mr. Beza for starting this new show for the school. It was a hit.

The Clay Projects in Progress

The students are getting some great knowledge on how to work with firing clay. You might think you can just throw together the clay and just cook it. However there is a lot of rules you need to follow to make a nice ceramic piece. After April vacation they will start the painting.

Kings and Queens

K2 got to make their own crown. They chose a theme to be a "king" or "queen" of. Here we have a queen of cheer leading and a king snakes. We also had a queen bear fighters in the class!
