I think you can tell which necklaces are the students based on the uniforms.
To extend our work on Navajo arts we made necklaces that look the traditional silver and turquoise of the tribe.

Then we all drew them.

Art Club (Animation)

The Animation session has ended in Art Club, but I just wanted to give a sneak peak at one video by Ani and Becca. It just makes me smile every time I watch it. I will have all the videos uploaded to our channel soon. Just two more to transfer then I will notify the students that were in the class.

Good Job!

Here are some more of the great designs made by the 7th and 8th grade.

Birthday Birds

It's that time.
8th grade have started their work on the K2 Birthday Birds.
They are made from air dry terra cotta clay.

Miracles

The past two weeks the 5th grade has been working hard on their region presentation. As part of their project they did scenes in which Jesus performed a miracle. Each panel was compiled as a group and produced using watercolor, marker and color pencil.

Rembrandt Windmill

To get the 4th grade all primed for our trip to the Issabella Stewart Gardner Museum I did a discussion on Rembrandt. The Dutch artist was born next to a windmill and his father was a miller. The drawing above is of his house. We also talked about the style in which Rembrandt would paint. His dramatic use of lighting was unusual at the time. A great example is seen in a self portrait above.
The class then worked on chalk pastel drawings of a windmill following my direction and using the extreme lighting style of Rembrandt. It was messy, but I think they liked it.

Figures in Motion

After finishing the Keith Haring project I decided to continue with drawing figures in motion.
I have inherited a lot of the Wiki Sticks (wax sticks that bend). They are great for building stick figures that bend and stick to the paper. After each students built their own stick figure they traced around it and turned it into a running figure. Next week we will make more and I will put them on display at Tuft's Library to promote the upcoming Summer library reading program promoting exercise.
