The art room has two new additions that will be of great use. The 8th grade class gave the art room these as gifts before they graduated and go off to high school. The portable display screen will be used for shows in the school and outside the school. The metal drying rack can fit 50 sheets of paper to dry undisturbed. Much needed, and much appreciated. THANK YOU.
In second grade we watch a video on how to draw different emotions. The students used what they learned and make suns with an emotion of their choice. I thought it would be a good way to bring in the summer. The students used black crayons and tempera paint.
Spring is time for flowers to bloom. The K2 class started by drawing with oil pastels then painting over with tempera. Next they used their cutting skills to cut out the petals for the flower. The next class they each got a white cardboard circle they filled with spots drawn with washable markers. Water was added to blend the dots and see what colors they can make. Once the students glued it all together the room was filled with colorful flowers.
This is our second year having the 5th grade class walk over to Tufts Library and have a little nature drawing time. I really want to thank the library for letting us take out the valuable collection to see up close. All 5000 !!! The students did a great job drawing a variety of species and then looking up the name and country of origin.
The 2nd grade class followed along as I did this drawing lesson on the board. The koi fish are drawn in the perspective from above. The first steps were drawn with crayons, then the orange and blue where added with watercolor paint.
